RoHS - Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment
 
January 27, 2003 the European Parliament and Council issued the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive 2002/95/EC.

This directive restricts certain hazardous substances in electrical und electronic products. The following substances are identified by RoHS in addition to lead to be banned from electrical und electronic products sold in Europe:

  • Lead/Pb
  • Mercury/Hg
  • Cadmium/Cd
  • Hexavalent Chromium/Cr(VI)
  • Polybrominated biphenyls/PBB
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers/PBDE
  • Deca-BDE
